Crux was born from an industry-wide need for a solution to manage data. Our mission is to alleviate the burdensome parts of data so institutions can focus on the work that matters.

A serial entrepreneur, Philip has over 30 years of experience creating data and analytics products for financial companies. He was once Head of Google Finance, Global Business Manager for FX at Bloomberg, and CTO of Thomson Reuters’ Financial and Risk Division. A patented inventor and avid adventurist, Philip recently completed the rugged Bridger Ridge Run—at 9,596 feet.

An experienced marketing professional with an affinity for strategic partnerships and experimental marketing. Prior to Crux, he served as Director of Partnerships & Marketing at YipitData, a fin-tech startup that provides alternative data research to institutional investors. He also created AlternativeData.org, a community platform for alternative data providers and investors. Pablo started his career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs in the Global Natural Resources Group. He's a Hoya living in New York City who is passionate about art and cycling.

Ben has worked in the distributed architecture and big data wrangling space at Sun Microsystems, BGI/Blackrock, Trulia, Incapture, and most recently Citadel, where he led the data engineering team. Outside of work, Ben likes to tinker with microcontrollers and enjoy the outdoors with his family. Originally from London, Ben has lived in the Bay Area for eighteen years.

Since his early days coding trading systems (in assembler!), Larry has been on the forefront of FinTech. Jonathan still misses his Sinclair ZX81 computer—but these days, he puts up with engineering large-scale distributed systems. He loves “rubber ducking,” sprint planning, fixing bugs, and keeping up with new technologies. Jonathan has worked at financial firms such as IBM and Lotus in Ireland and has held leadership positions at Barclay's Global Investors and BlackRock.

Elizabeth (aka Liz or EP) is passionate about making creative and effective data-driven solutions a reality. Her experience spans two decades working with commercial, technical minds at Goldman Sachs (as MD of Market Data Services) and AIG (as COO of Science). Elizabeth is a super-commuter and keen farm-to-tabler. Oh, and she loves goats. Her favorite one is named Leaf.

Ashu wears a lot of hats at Crux. He's had a few stops along his journey here: travelling between Bombay and the Bay Area as an impact investor with Omidyar Network and living in Boston with Audax Private Equity. Ashu is a graduate of the Wharton School and in his spare time loves travelling, cooking, hiking, and reading (especially world history from interesting periods).
